Canon came out with a new product in the "prosumer" G line called the G9 in late 2007.
It has a stunning 12.1 MP pixel count, a large 3.0 inch monitor screen and has added the capability to shoot in Raw format.
Other new features are the addition of wireless flash capability, enhanced face detection, red-eye correction during playback, a second white balance custom setting, and a better grip.
Features carried over from the previous G7 include the 6X stabilized zoom. the flash hot shoe, better battery life, all metal design and the highly configurable manual control system.
